The Gluten Free Diet
Leonard’s Field House is one of the few Guest Houses in Keswick that in addition to a traditional Breakfast menu, also specialises in Gluten Free cooking. We understand that simply offering gluten free sausage on the menu, does in no way guarantee that the food has been stored, prepared and served in the correct manner.
Theresa is herself a diagnosed coeliac and understands the very real need to prevent cross contamination. With this in mind a part of our kitchen is set aside for the sole preparation of gluten free food, using only designated chopping boards, utensils and toasters. There are usually at least 3 Gluten Free Cereals on offer and all of our standard breakfast fayre can be made using gluten free local produce. We have many compliments about our gluten free sausages prepared fresh by Thomason’s the butchers on the local high street. All breakfast items are cooked and prepared separately. Many Hotels and Guest Houses usually ask you to bring your own bread, but this is not always practicable if you are travelling around or have come from abroad. At Leonard's Field House, we always have a good stock of gluten free bread on offer. If you have your own favourite please feel free to bring that. In addition I can re-fresh any bread or rolls you bring. There are gluten free biscuits in your room and we can provide gluten free packed lunches. It is always nice to meet and chat to fellow coelics and swap stories and tips and maybe even tried and trusted recipies! There are 3 gluten free establishments we're aware of in Keswick, so if you prefer to eat out or we are unable to offer evening meals on the dates you select, you can be assured that you will be well catered for. There are also 3 cafes in Keswick offering gluten free cakes and we can direct you to a variety of Lake District cafes and assorted eateries catering for gluten free diets. So, you can relax and enjoy your stay secure in the knowledge that you should be able to pick up a meal or snack when out and about leaving you to concentrate on the really important stuff like having a good time exploring the wonderful countryside we call home!
